Who comes to your rescue?
The images have become too common place. Just like the Tsunami, the destruction across the gulf from Hurricane Katrina, wildfires across the West, and now the earthquake that hit Haiti, some things cannot be stopped.
Who comes to your rescue in times of trouble?
Most of us will never experience a natural disaster. But everyone experiences difficulties throughout their lives. Maybe it will be losing a job, a serious medical problem, a teen pregnancy within your family, divorce, death, parents with failing health, and the list is truly endless. In 2005, my son had a serious car accident. My family, friends, and church were there for us. Visits, cards, food, even monetary assistance..Steve and I are still humbled by those who offered a helping hand, words of encouragement, and prayer for his recovery. In 2008, a tornado glazed over our home causing extensive damages and this time, we even had the Southern Baptist Disaster Team showing up with chain saws to help in this recovery.
It is humbling to see so many Americans reaching out to the Haitians following their horrific natural disaster. Already the news media is predicting that Haiti will see a much needed improvement to their living conditions due to the outpouring of relief that they will receive in the coming months. Except for the loss of life, Haiti will be rebuilt because of the charities of others. It also makes me proud to see past and present U.S. Presidents standing united to reach out to our neighbors during their time of need.
Haitians...the U.S. is coming to your rescue! You have our love and support! Hang on...help is on its way!
